What is Master Med Cann?
Master Med Cann, Lda is a Portuguese company that grows medical cannabis. Our farm is in Infesto near Penela, in the district of Coimbra in central Portugal, south of the city of Coimbra.
Are Master Med Cann and Master Med Cannabis the same company?
Yes. The company was founded in 2019 as Master Med Cannabis Lda and has been called Master Med Cann, Lda since 2024. The company number (NIPC 515 360 082), the farm and the management are unchanged.
Where is the cannabis grown?
On our own farm on Rua das Sete Fontes in Infesto, municipality of Penela. The site covers 6 hectares. Cultivation, harvest and processing all take place in Portugal.
How is the cannabis grown?
We use three cultivation methods: outdoor fields, a hybrid greenhouse and indoor rooms. Outdoors the plants grow under the central Portuguese sun. The hybrid greenhouse combines natural light with a controlled climate, and in the indoor rooms we fully control light, temperature and humidity. This lets us choose the right method for each strain and each partner’s requirements. Drying takes place in our own drying rooms, designed to GMP standard.
Does Master Med Cann hold a GMP certification?
We have applied for GMP certification. Until it is granted, we work with established GMP-certified processors in Portugal. This means our product already meets the requirements of pharmacies and wholesalers in the EU.
What does Master Med Cann offer?
We grow medical cannabis and supply it as a starting material to pharmacies, wholesalers and licensed partners. With Cultivation On Demand we grow flowers to a partner’s specification, for example a particular strain or cannabinoid profile.
Does Master Med Cann sell to private individuals?
No. We only work with companies that hold the permits required to trade medical cannabis.
Which authority oversees the cultivation?
In Portugal, the medicines authority INFARMED, I.P. regulates the cultivation of cannabis for medical purposes. We work to its requirements and follow the GACP guidelines for medicinal plants.
Who runs the company?
The CEO is Dr. Miguel Nobrega Gouveia, a lawyer who has worked on medical cannabis authorisation procedures in Portugal and Denmark since 2018. Sales and marketing are led by Ben Neuendorf and Andreas Grimm.
